Corporate retreats don’t always have to mean a week-long getaway to a 5-star resort. If you’re pressed for time and don’t want to blow out the budget, a one-day retreat in a regional location can prove to be just as beneficial.
The opportunity to step away from day-to-day work can be the perfect pick-me-up for your team. We’ve put together a list of activities that you could do during a one-day corporate retreat.
Enhanced Catering Options
Step outside the box with your catering options and choose an idea that encourages communication such as our feasting style lunch that promotes informal interaction between guests.
Fuel your body and mind with a nutritious and healthy food menu. We use locally sourced and organic ingredients where possible to ensure guests are not only satisfied, but know they’ve eaten well and will be sustained through the rest of the day.
Tea Breaks in the Garden
Take a break from the walls of the conference room and enjoy morning or afternoon tea in the kitchen garden. This is a great way for your team to refresh and prepare themselves for the next activity.
Finish off the day with the 3C’s; cheese, charcuterie, champagne. This creates the perfect atmosphere to reflect upon the retreat and celebrate what has been achieved.
Free & Fun Activities at the Estate
Sometimes the best activities are the easiest ones to plan! Around the Estate we have several different locations where games can be enjoyed; from board games to table tennis, you’ll always be able to find something to do.
Start the morning off with a dip in our beautiful, solar heated pool or spa where you can take in gorgeous views of the Estate.
A Spark of Competition
Located in our indoor public area we have a pool table where a friendly tournament can be arranged. If you want to step up the intensity, make your way over to our tennis and basketball courts where you can test your team’s skills in a round robin of doubles matches or some one on one action.
Finish off the day with a few different lawn games. The Estate can provide you with Giant Jenga, Finska and Bocce.
Ideas to bring your group together
Whilst your team are together all day in the conference room, they may not have the chance to get to bond outside of the workspace, so here are some ideas to bring your team together.
Warm and fuzzies
Sharing a compliment about your team member can be a great confidence boost, promote self-esteem and encourage new work relationships that may not have existed in the past
Team members can take photos of the day, venue, activities, teams, catering and more and display on a board throughout the conference. This will spark conversation and you’ll have something to take back to the office to remind the team of the retreat.
Unplug and unwind! Invite guests to a tech-free zone, whether it be pre-dinner drinks with no phones, or a catering break where staff aren’t checking emails. Take the time to encourage your team to unplug, reminding them about a healthy work-life balance.
